KIADI'S PAINTED FIGURES
From May 29th, through June 18th of 2000, Burger King® held a Promotional for DragonBall Z. Each Kid's Meal contained a DragonBall Z figure, made of solid plastic and painted to look like pewter. The figures themselves were of surprisingly good quality, but the paint job sucked.
So, naturally, I decided to fix that and I painted up the figures myself. Here you can find scanned pictures of the Burger King® Promotional Figures that I painted. The figures are currently on display at Dragon's Keep in Provo, UT, and include the light-up base and Promotional Card that came with each.
Each figure is listed in the order that I painted them. Click on the image to view the corresponding picture. I used Citadel® Paints and the color names are listed with each figure (with the more common name in parenthesis).

GOKU
The first figure my local Burger King offered, thus the first I painted. The "Go" symbol on his gi was probably the most challenging part, since it had to be free painted on.

VEGETA
Nothing to note about this figure, except how thrilling it is for me to paint the handsome Saiyajin Prince. ^^

SUPER SAIYAN GOKU
In order to try and mimic the glowing nature of the Super Saiyan, I decided to use Metallic colors on this figure. This proved to be a challenge since there was no Metallic Orange or Red. So, in order to get the effect, I first painted the gi in Burnished Gold, and then put several coats of Red Glaze over it. The results were...satisfactory. ^^

KRILLIN
Boy was I mad when I got my first look at this figure. If you look on my Goku figure, you will see that I had to free paint the symbol on his gi. When I got the Krillin figure, I found the symbol was already THERE, giving me an easy guide to paint with! GRRRRRRRR!!!!

SUPER SAIYAN VEGETA
Please note that there was no "Super Saiyan Vegeta" offered with the BK Promotion, I merely took an extra Vegeta figure that I had and painted it to look like a Super Saiyan. Like SS Goku, I used mostly Metallic Colors on him and, if you look very closely, I added a little smirk to the corner of his mouth. ^^

FRIEZA
Frieza was a disgustingly easy figure to paint, since he only consists of two major colors: Off White and Purple. The most challenging parts of this figure were having to constantly adjust his tail so I could paint underneath, and putting on his make-up (you know, the lipstick, eyeliner, and nail polish. ^^)

PICCOLO
However easy Freiza was to paint, Piccolo made up the difference. Half the time I spent on the figure was just on his arms! Of course, I love to paint detail, so I was actually rather disappointed when I finished him.
Another thing to note about this figure is that I gave him a base coat of black, instead of white like I do the other figures. This makes him a little harder to paint, but gives the colors a darker and richer flavor. Of course, it meant I had to put several coats of white and pink on him just to make the light colors stand out. O_o

GOHAN
Besides the fact that I've never had to paint someone's teeth before ::shrug::, there isn't much to say about this figure either. This is the last figure, so I'm kinda sad that I don't have anymore DBZ figures to paint. Ah well, at least they are all finished now! ^^
